SPEAKERFIRE

Formed in February of 2005, this dynamic and striking rock band from Buffalo, New York brings sophisticated songwriting, mind altering lyrics, and enticing performance to stages across the United States. Priding themselves on creating meaningful music and art by not submitting to what vocalist/guitarist Ian Wiedrick describes as "today's standards of the money making pop hook," SpeakerFIRE is a breath of fresh air in a suffocated music world. The band was brought to life when 4 musicians, seemingly destined to perform, decided something needed to change. Freshly free of their older bands, Frontman Ian Wiedrick, Guitarist/Singer John Majewski, Bassist Jon Skowron, and Drummer Steve Tripi got together and developed a bond that allowed each individual to express themselves in way they never thought possible. With this line up the band began feverishly writing and preparing their first demo, a disc packed with 6 energetic songs filled with doubt and destruction, to be recorded in March. With the help of Frank Vicario from Buffalo's own Snapcase, SpeakerFIRE hammered out the songs in the studio. In April of 2005, they released the CD and graced the stage for the first time, quickly gaining a local following with their intense and captivating performances.

Following an extensive upper east coast tour came the release of the band's second demo recorded once again with the help of Vicario and other members of Snapcase. Nothing could stop SpeakerFIRE after the debut of this CD, which showed a growth within the band after only a few months time. These 4 new songs were smarter, catchier, and fiercely eaten up by their hometown crowd as well as with the new fans on the road. In a matter of weeks, the stand out track "Atrophy" reached over 10,000 plays on Myspace.com. Later on, the summer of 2005 brought a heavy self booked tour schedule for the band, hitting every area their van would take them. A number of shows unleashed SpeakerFIRE on the Midwest and Southern United States and has since paid off with a huge fanbase in both areas. The band wrapped up their summer after selling nearly 1,000 copies of their self released second demo. In that time, SpeakerFIRE also shared the stage with bands such as Saosin, Hot Rod Circuit, The Junior Varsity, Punchline, Piebald, Gatsby's American Dream, The Lawrence Arms and long-time friends This Day and Age. They also recently completed an east coast tour with Every Time I Die, Chiodos, and The Sleeping. The summer of 2006 looks to be the band's most promising months in its existence with plans to play Buffalo's biggest summer festival "Edge Fest" to a crowd of 20,000+ with Taking Back Sunday, Hawthorne Heights and Yellowcard headlining.

Currently the band is anticipating the release of their new EP entitled, "Audio Alchemy" which was recorded in Montgomery, Alabama with Andy Jackson (vocalist, Hot Rod Circuit) and mixed by Tim O'Heir (prior works include Say Anything, The Starting Line, and The All-American Rejects). This EP promises great things with the smell of some seriously brilliant rock and roll as the band continues to tour relentlessly on their quest to bring original and inspiring music to ears everywhere.
